It’s a race against time when someone stops breathing. If good basic life support is given, and a defib is used within 3-5 minutes of cardiac arrest, survival chances increase from 6% to a whopping 74%!

Knowing where the nearest defib is, and being able to get to it in super-quick time is hugely important in helping save someone’s life.

The great news is that an updated defib recognition sign has been introduced to help us all out. Even better, is that It’s accepted by the HSE and approved by the Resuscitation Council (UK) – so hopefully we’ll start seeing the pop up all over the place soon.

The bottom line: If we can all easily spot a defib, more lives will be saved
