Not sure how strong your current first aid teaching is?

First aid forms part of Health Education, but many schools are not sure whether pupils are getting enough opportunity to practise what they would actually say or do in an emergency.

Our Primary First Aid Confidence Check takes less than a minute and helps you sense-check whether pupils are building practical first aid confidence, not just awareness.

It takes less than a minute!

Why Mini Heroes exists

First aid is part of Health Education, but delivering it well can still feel tricky.

Teachers are not expected to be first aid experts. They are already stretched, short on time and balancing a packed curriculum.

And while free resources can help, they often still leave staff with the job of turning information into a practical, age-appropriate lesson.

Mini Heroes was created to make first aid simple to deliver and meaningful for children.

Built by experienced educators and first aid professionals, it gives schools a ready-made way to help pupils practise what to say, what to do and how to get help – calmly, safely and without fear.

How is Mini Heroes delivered?

Mini Heroes is taught through story-led scenarios featuring the Mini Heroes characters. Pupils follow relatable situations, talk through what is happening, then practise the calm, helpful actions they could take.

Watch

Children watch short, age-appropriate first aid stories and expert demonstrations.

Discuss

Questions and answers are built into the slides, helping staff guide the conversation with confidence.

Do

Children practise safely through hands-on activities, role play and physical resources, building confidence without making it scary.

Staff do not need to create lessons from scratch. Presentations are ready to go, lesson plans guide each step, and pupils learn through characters, stories and practice, not just facts on a slide.

What Mini Heroes covers

Mini Heroes is designed for children aged 4–11, with age-appropriate first aid learning across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

EYFS

Helping others, recognising when someone needs help, and knowing how to get an adult.

Key Stage 1

Safety awareness, emergency calls, asking for help and simple first aid actions.

Key Stage 2

Emergency calls, common injuries and age-appropriate life-saving skills.

KS2 topics include asthma, allergies, bleeding, burns, head injuries, choking, bites and stings, plus a bonus CPR session for Upper KS2.

What schools say

You might be wondering…

Does this meet the government (DfE) and OFSTED requirements?

Yes, and it exceeds them. It covers every statutory requirement for Key Stage 2 as well as all of the suggested teaching from the DFE training module (Emergency Calls, Head Injuries, etc.) but also includes Key Stage 1 and EYFS learning and a bonus CPR module, which is usually only taught in Secondary schools. For more compliance info you can view the Statutory Health Education Mandate: The 12-Area First Aid Compliance Audit & Whitepaper below.

Do staff need to be first aid trained?

No. The course is “Video-Led.” Your role is to facilitate. You move through the clearly sequenced slides, all questioning is planned into the sides, along with the answers. Press play on the video section and our expert trainers demonstrate the skills on screen. You then guide the children through the practical activities using our detailed session plans.

What ages is it suitable for?

Mini Heroes supports children aged 4–11, with sessions designed for Early Years, KS1 and KS2.

What do we need to buy?

Most schools start with the Mini Heroes Starter Kit and pupil packs for each child taking part.

Can we use PTA or parent contribution?

Some schools choose to use PTA support or parent contribution to help fund pupil packs.

Will this add to staff workload?

No. Sessions are fully prepared and ready to use, removing the need for planning or subject research.

Can someone deliver Mini Heroes for us?

Mini Heroes is designed for schools to self-deliver, but trainer-supported delivery may be available depending on your location. Get in touch and we can point you in the right direction.

Can Mini Heroes be used outside schools?

Yes. Mini Heroes can also support early years settings, children’s groups, holiday clubs and community organisations.

The Starter Kit and pupil packs can be used for self-delivery, and trainer-supported delivery may be available depending on your location.
