Benedict’s Law school staff training

Confidence, not just awareness.

Help your school team feel calm, clear and ready to act in an allergy emergency.

Benedict’s Law is about more than awareness. It’s about making sure staff across your school know what to do in the moment that matters.

This focused 1-hour course helps schools cover the key staff training part of Benedict’s Law in one clear session.

It includes allergy and anaphylaxis awareness, emergency response, adrenaline auto-injectors, and the chance for staff to see, hold and practise with trainer auto-injectors.

Because the first time someone handles an adrenaline auto-injector should not be during an emergency.

We'll cover

  • Allergy and anaphylaxis awareness
  • Allergy vs intolerance vs coeliac disease
  • Recognising symptoms and anaphylaxis warning signs
  • The link between acute asthma and anaphylaxis
  • What to do in an emergency, including the 5-minute response window
  • Patient positioning and repeat dosing

  • Reducing risk and following school allergy procedures
  • A chance to see, hold and practise with trainer devices

Why this course?

Benedict’s Law is helping schools focus on a simple but vital question:

Would the adult closest to a child know what to do in an allergy emergency?

Imagine if a child has a serious allergic reaction during lunch, PE, a school trip or the afternoon rush.

The adult closest to them might not be the school first aider.

It could be a teacher, teaching assistant, lunchtime supervisor, office team member, kitchen team member, sports coach, minibus driver, caretaker, supply teacher, regular volunteer or member of support staff.

That’s why this course is designed for whole-school staff awareness, not just designated first aiders.

It helps your team spot the signs, raise the alarm, understand the emergency steps and feel more confident to act while help is on the way.

Why confidence matters

Online training can be useful for awareness.

But a video alone cannot fully prepare someone for that high-pressure moment.

Staff need to recognise the signs, respond under pressure and understand how to use an adrenaline auto-injector.

That is why this 1-hour course gives your staff the chance to see, hold and practise with trainer auto-injectors in a calm learning environment.

The first time someone handles an adrenaline auto-injector should not be during an emergency.

Want the bigger picture before you enquire?

We recently hosted a short school briefing to help explain Benedict’s Law, allergy safety and what schools can start thinking about ahead of September 2026.

It’s around 30 minutes, so you can watch it with your SLT, share it with governors, or use it as a starting point for your school planning.

We’re also keeping a live Benedict’s Law guidance hub updated as things develop.

Want pupils to feel more confident too?

Allergy safety is not just about adult response.

Children can also learn simple, age-appropriate messages around helping others, raising the alarm, and knowing when to get a grown-up.

Our Mini Heroes programme helps primary-aged children build first aid confidence in a fun and memorable way, with anaphylaxis awareness included within parts of the programme.

If you’d like to explore pupil first aid alongside staff training, just tick the Mini Heroes option on the form.

Tell us what support your school needs

Whether you want to book staff training, explore flexible delivery, ask about Mini Heroes, or understand pricing for your school, complete the short form and we’ll point you in the right direction.

We have SkillBase Approved Instructors across the UK, so where possible we can match your school with a local trainer to keep delivery practical and cost-effective.

One 1-hour session can train up to 40 staff. If you have a larger team, we can also look at half-day or full-day options so you can train multiple groups more cost-effectively.

A few things you might be wondering

Here are a few things schools often ask before booking allergy and anaphylaxis training.

Is this the same as your Action for Anaphylaxis course?

No. Our Action for Anaphylaxis course is a longer course that also includes Basic Life Support and AED awareness.

This new 1-hour Allergy and Anaphylaxis Course for Schools is a focused school session designed to help schools cover the key staff training part of Benedict’s Law in one clear session.

Can this be delivered on an INSET day?

Yes. This course is designed to work well as part of an INSET day, twilight session or all-staff training session.

Can all school staff attend?

Yes. The course is designed for whole-school staff awareness, not just designated first aiders.

That could include teachers, teaching assistants, lunchtime staff, office teams, kitchen teams, caretakers, supply staff, regular volunteers and wider support staff.

Do staff get certificates?

Yes, certificates are provided for staff who attend.

Can you train large staff groups?

Yes. This course can train up to 40 staff in one 1-hour session.

That makes it a practical option for INSET days, twilight sessions and whole-school updates.

How much does the course cost?

Pricing depends on your location, staff numbers and whether you need one session or multiple groups trained.

One 1-hour session can train up to 40 staff.

For larger schools, half-day and full-day options may be more cost-effective if you need to train multiple groups on the same visit.

We have SkillBase Approved Instructors across the UK, so where possible we can match your school with a local trainer to keep delivery practical and cost-effective.

Complete the short enquiry form and we’ll point you towards the best option for your school.

Isn't online training enough?

Online training can be useful for awareness, but a video alone cannot fully prepare someone for that high-pressure moment.

This course gives staff the chance to see, hold and practise with trainer auto-injectors in a calm learning environment, so they are not facing the device for the first time in a real emergency.

Can you support Multi-Academy Trusts?

Yes. If you are planning training across several schools, complete the form and tell us what you need.
